Time is tight, but there should be plenty of time for getting exposed to new ideas, asking a few questions, and then continuing the conversation at dinner and during the days, weeks, and years to come!

Don’t forget…

Everyone needs to bring stuff to ggmcph! Henriette even made a picture of her reminder of what to bring! So don’t forget. Recycling is cool!

See you soon!

reYOUse, create, and make

4/11-2010

Unconference @ ggmcph

3/11-2010

Allerførst – hvad er en unconference egentligt? Wikipedia forklarer det som en brugerdrevet konference. Faktisk planlægger man ingenting i forvejen.

Oyuki Matsumoto is the DJ at ggmcph!

2/11-2010

At Geek Girl Meetup in Copenhagen on November 6 DJ Oyuki Matsumoto will make the sound, while 150 women share their knowledge and interest in web and IT. Meet Oyuki Matsumoto for a few words about the next Geek Girl Meetup.

Oyuki Matsumoto

You’re coming from Sweden to Copenhagen to the Geek Girl Meetup. What is your contribution?
In this occasion my contribution is playing music while the geek girls mingle. And I’ve also promoted the event through my twitter and facebook, but I must say the event didn’t need a lot of promotion it was amazing to see how the 100 places were taken so fast!
I’m just hoping they’ll have a nice time, maybe dance a little or just sing a long on a favorite song?

Why do you find it important to participate in Geek Girl Meetup?
Off course! I come from Mexico, where women still work very hard in order to be recognized for what they do and their role in society and different professions, participating in an event that lifts women abilities in what has been considered for many a “men-thing” makes me happy and proud!
I also see Geek Girl Meetup as an important source of inspiration. I work for Stapelbäddsparken in Malmö, an arena for people who want to develop or try out their ideas. I am project manager and coaches youngsters through production processes. So for me is very interesting to hear about how other people share creative and practical solutions. It gives me ideas to develop and become better in what I do.

How are you a Geek Girl?
How am I a geek? I get fascinated by the internet… I would say I’m in love with the internet and I’m very passionate in sharing information, and music and everything I can. Social Media is important for me as a source of information but also as a tool. I love to learn new stuff and spread the knowledge I get!!

You have been involved in Geek Girl Meetup earlier. How?
Anna Oscarsson wanted to see what people thought about the concept (Geek Girl) in Malmö. My colleague and I contacted Anna and we held a little meeting in our installations. The response was very positive, so finally Anna Oscarsson, Emma Estborn and Kristin Heinonen arranged the first Geek Girl Meetup in Helsingborg on spring this year. There I played records as well together with my good friend Sophie Uesson.
I actually became so inspired that I contacted some friends in Mexico and now we are producing a Geek Girl Meetup Mexico to take place in Guadalajara, Jalisco on the11ths of December this year… I’m really excited!

You can follow Oyuki Matsumotos tweets at @ohproducer or her talk about her work and ideas. If you’re familiar with spanish you will find Oyuki Matsumoto at her Mexican blog.

Amelie Jacobsson @ ggmcph

2/11-2010

Meet the woman behind the design for Geek Girl Meetup – Amelie Jacobsson – before you run into her in person on November 6 in Copenhagen.

GGM_CPH_logo

What is your contribution for Geek Girl Meetup in Copenhagen?
I’m contributing with graphical design for event gadgets such as stickers, key chains etc.

What effect will the participants get out of it?
They will be awesome freebies that make everyone happy! :)

Why do you find it important to participate in Geek Girl?
I find it important to promote women working in what still is a very male-dominated business, but mostly it’s just fun to meet inspiring creative people!
This is not my first geek girl event. I was also at the Geek Girl Öresund’s unconference at Dunkers in Helsingborg earlier this year.

How are you a Geek Girl?
I’m a pixel/vector-geek working with graphic design for user interfaces.

Meet Amelie and her one woman show at www.krawatt.se or follow her at @ameliejacobsson.
